Montecito, California,

It's a house any "Scarface" fan will remember—the sprawling, Neoclassical estate where drug lord Tony Montana is killed by assassins.

Scenes from the 1983 Al Pacino film were shot at "El Fureidis," a Mediterranean Revival-style estate located in Montecito, Calif.—not in Florida, as depicted in the movie. Recently renovated, the roughly 10-acre estate is available for sale for $35 million, according to Emily McBride Kellenberger of Village Properties, an exclusive affiliate of Christie's International Real Estate, who is marketing the house along with Santa Barbara-based advisory firm SG LLC.

The house is nearly 10,000 square feet, according to Ms. Kellenberger, with four bedrooms, nine bathrooms and a roof deck that has views of the Pacific Ocean and the Channel Islands.

El Fureidis was designed in the early 1900s by architect Bertram Goodhue for wealthy New Yorker James Waldron Gillespie. Mr. Goodhue was mostly known for designing public buildings, such as the Los Angeles Central Library, according to Yates Satterlee, Mr. Goodhue's grandson. Mr. Goodhue and Mr. Gillespie were friends and traveled to Europe and the Middle East together to get inspiration for El Fureidis, said Mr. Satterlee. Mr. Goodhue incorporated both Roman and Middle Eastern influences into El Fureidis, including a Byzantine-style "conversation room," an alcove with an 18-foot-high domed ceiling. In the dining room there is a barreled ceiling, painted in 24-carat gold leaf, that depicts a scene of Alexander the Great conquering Persepolis, Ms. Kellenberger said. The outside of the house is decorated with bas-reliefs designed by sculptor Lee Lawrie, who is known for the bronze Atlas at New York City's Rockefeller Center. The grounds include Persian-style gardens and fountains. In the rear—where the wedding scene in "Scarface" took place—there are two levels of patio and four reflecting pools. A series of staircases lead to cascading pools and other water features.
